Colombia is the 3rd worldwide coffee producer after Brazil and Vietnam, with a share of 12% of the market. The plantations have a length of between 1000 and 2000 metres and are exposed to an average temperature of 20°C and yearly precipitations of 95 inches. They cover an area of 900.000 hectares and are the prime source of income for the families of more than 500.000 “cafeteros” (the name given to coffee farmers in Colombia).
